Michael Baidoo joined Argyle in January 2025, for a club-record transfer fee. His contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Baidoo joined from Swedish side IF Elfsborg, where he had been since 2022. Prior to his time in Sweden, he played for Sandnes Ulf in Norway, and FC Midtjlland in Denmark. He also had loan spells with Jerv and Fredericia.   

Predominantly a midfielder, but also capable of playing as a striker, it is at Elfsborg where Baidoo really starred, and he was an integral part of their Europa League campaign in the first half of the 2024/25 season.  

Baidoo scored five goals and assisted three times in that competition, and scored 10 goals and claimed four assists in the Allsvenskan in 2024. Baidoo scored the only goal of the game in Elfsborg’s 1-0 win against AS Roma in October 2024, and made 76 appearances for the Swedish side in two seasons.
