Wayne Rooney nominated for September Manager of the Month

Wayne Rooney is among the shortlist for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for September.

The Argyle Head Coach is nominated alongside John Eustace of Blackburn Rovers, Burnley boss Scott Parker and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder.

Argyle played three games in the month of September, the first seeing a dramatic 3-2 victory at home to Sunderland. The Black Cats were top of the league when they visited Home Park, but Joe Edwards injury-time winner handed Sunderland their first defeat of the season, and earned Argyle their first.

A week later, Argyle went down narrowly, losing 1-0 at new leaders West Bromwich Albion, before their final game of the month, a televised 3-1 victory over Luton Town, a Premier League side as recently as last season.

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies. 

The winner will be announced on Friday morning.
