Under-18s Preview | Bristol Rovers (A)
Argyle’s Under-18s are in action on Saturday morning, travelling away to Bristol Rovers in the South Youth Alliance League, and looking to continue a good run of form of late.
The Greens are unbeaten in their last six games in the division, winning four and drawing two; a run that has seen Jamie Lowry’s team rise to second in the table, albeit having played a game or two more than the sides around them.
Lowry’s lads have already met Rovers once this season, in the Youth Alliance Cup, winning 5-0, and will hope to take their recent good form into Saturday morning’s trip up the M5.
“The confidence is a massive thing we've picked up on,” said Lowry. “I think we’ve found a real identity in what we are, about what gets success and our foundations, building on our performances. As you would expect, winning results and good performance breed lots of confidence. The boys are playing on a real high at the moment and that's something we want to continue throughout the season.
“I expect a difficult challenge from [Rovers]. Since we played them in the Youth Alliance Cup earlier in the season, they've had a few more strong results and picked up a little bit.
“I think they've got into a rhythm also, so it'll be a difficult challenge. It's something for the boys, we’ve spoken about having consistency. We’ve had some good performances and are doing well with the results, but it's something we’ve talked about: not taking our foot off the gas, not getting too complacent; all those little bits of understanding, knowledge and experience, getting yourself up for the game and trying to get to that top level as much as possible throughout each game.
“It'll be a difficult game, but it's one we're looking forward to. I think that we can really go and compete, and hopefully get the result we need.”
