Argyle Women’s fixture against Torquay United on Sunday, 27 September, in the FAWNL Cup, will be dedicated to Roxy Thomas.
Roxy, 18, is a current Torquay player, who came through the Argyle Player Pathway. She is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, and there has been a huge outpouring of support for the popular left-back.
When the two Devon sides meet at Home Park, all proceeds from the fixture will be donated to the GoFundMe page set up to support Roxy and her family, which has now surpassed £20,000 in donations.
The game is the third and final one in the FAWNL group stage. The Gulls top the group on four points, with Argyle and Bridgwater United a point behind. Marine Academy Plymouth are fourth on one point. It means that both Torquay and Argyle will have their sights set on victory to top the group, in a competition which Argyle reached the final last season.
Obviously, though, in the bigger picture, football is secondary to what Roxy is going through. Everyone at Argyle continues to wish her the very best in her recovery.
