Swansea City (H) | Cundle's Preview
When Argyle meet Swansea City at Home Park on Saturday, few will know the visitors as well as midfielder Luke Cundle.
Cundle, on loan to Argyle from Wolverhampton Wanderers, spent last season borrowed to the Swans, and while the Welsh side have changed manager and brought in several new players, there will still be plenty of familiar faces for Luke to come against this weekend.
Swansea visit Devon on a bit of a roll. After failing to win in their first seven games under new boss Michael Duff, they have won three in a row, most recently on Wednesday night against Norwich City.
“It'll be a tough game, but we just need to concentrate on ourselves really,” said Cundle, “and improve on the things we need to improve on.
“I think you have an extra bit of motivation to do that bit better when you're playing against a former club. I’m definitely looking forward to the game on the weekend.
“It’s not much of a difference. You know a lot of the lads who you're going to be up against, so that's always in your mind. You'll speak to them probably before and after the game; it's a bit weird in a way, but it's not really much difference to be honest.
“They're a team who have players who are all naturally good on the ball. I think that will always be the way they play. That's kind of the Swansea way.
“It takes time for any new manager to implement his own system and philosophy. We're expecting a different team from last year. They've won the last three, so they'll be on a high coming in and they'll be looking to win the game just as much as we are.
“We're going to be at home on the weekend, with the fans behind us again. The three games we have won this season have been at home, so I feel as if the boys will give everything on the weekend and hopefully we can get the result we want.”
Cundle has played ten times since his arrival – five starts, five substitute appearances – and contributed three goals, as well as impressing with his interplay, quick feet and industrious performances.
“I'm enjoying it down here,” Luke said. “The lads are great, and the manager and staff all get the ideas across what they want from the team, so it's good. It's a good group to come into, and a good environment.
“On the pitch, I want to play more, and every footballer will tell you the same; they want to play more minutes and be on the pitch. I've scored a few goals and I'm just looking to do as well as possible every time I'm on the pitch.”
