SuperCupNI Report - Argyle 1 St Mirren 0
Argyle will face West Ham United on Thursday in the semi-final of the SuperCupNI, having maintained their 100% record with a victory on Wednesday against St Mirren.
Argyle made it three wins in three games as they completed a perfect opening stage of their campaign in Northern Ireland, and qualified comfortably for the last four.
The 1-0 win over St Mirren followed wins earlier this week against Charlton Athletic and County Fermanagh The squad are yet to concede a goal in the competition, and Jared Rendle kept up his record of scoring in every game, too. His effort in the first half against St Mirren gave Argyle a lead they never surrendered in awful conditions in Portrush.
It is the first time an Argyle side have reached the semi-finals of the competition since 2014. On that occasion, a team containing Michael Cooper lost to Brazilian giants Corinthians.
Thursday's game will take place at Seahaven, Portstewart - coincidentally, the same venue as the Corinthians tie - at 7pm.
The other semi-final will feature home sides Antrim and Armagh, so Friday's final is guaranteed to be a Northern Ireland v England affair.
Argyle: Leo McCormick, Liam Uren, Tobias MacClean, Jacob Turner (Harrison Shaw), Ashton Pearse-Horwell, Billy Devlin, Joe Mwaro, James Sharpe (Harry Truscott), Jared Rendle (Alfie Tai), Oliver Evans (Kye Chapple), Dylan Williams (Archie Hepburn). Substitutes (not used): Joel Tolcher, Ewan Lock.
