Standards Panel | Stadium Ban Issued
The club’s Standards Panel convened this week to issue a three-year stadium ban to an individual for discharging a smoke bomb during the Greens’ 4-1 victory at Milton Keynes Dons.
The club has received reports from the Football Association of smoke bombs being discharged by Argyle supporters on three occasions this season, at Fleetwood Town, Portsmouth and Milton Keynes Dons. As with the identified supporter at Stadium MK, the club will continue to issue bans to any individuals found to have behaved in this manner.
Ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League One trip to the Memorial Stadium, the club reminds supporters of their responsibility to ensure that Argyle matches – home and away – should be safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.
We cannot make our position on this behaviour, and the consequences of it, any clearer with supporters. Anyone discharging smoke bombs in the ‘support’ of Argyle threatens our progress, places others at risk, and could see the club punished with either financial penalties or capacity reductions.
With the team performing so well, and the club in the midst of a season of great promise, the impact of either potential outcome could be significant.
As is often remarked by club staff, players, and opposition alike, the Green Army can have a huge influence on the outcome of the game with their incredible support up and down the country. However, behaviour that crosses the line leaves the club vulnerable to paying large sums of money in penalties – directly impacting our ability to invest in facilities, enhancements, and the most competitive first-team squad possible.
We urge all supporters to consider the consequences of poor behaviour for themselves, their fellow supporter, and the club, when attending Argyle matches.
The club is fully behind the Premier League and EFL’s collective campaign – Love Football. Protect the Game – and will continue to work with footballing authorities, local stakeholders, and other clubs to ensure that criminal behaviours are eradicated, and those responsible are identified.
Thank you for your cooperation.
