Six Green Futures
As the current generation of Pilgrims took another step towards Sky Bet League One promotion with a comfortable victory over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, six youngsters were watching on, knowing that dreams of following in their footsteps were one step closer.
Harry, Ollie, Reuben, William, Charlie and Dominic attended Club Argyle pre-match to sign with the Greens' Academy to a rousing reception, before meeting two of the Academy's success stories - Michael Cooper and Adam Randell.
Adam Hayman, Head of Academy Recruitment at Home Park, said: "All six boys are not just promising footballers but fantastic young children who represent the values of our club."
Having undertaken root-and-branch reform of the Academy structure in recent seasons, the club's youth set-up continues to go from strength to strength - and many of the six joining the Academy are beneficiaries of the club's new grass-roots system, which includes two Elite Development Hubs in Cornwall.
Adam continued: "The boys were identified and recruited into the Academy from various areas, including West and East Cornwall, Plymouth and Exeter. Huge credit must go to our fantastic team supporting Talent ID and recruitment, namely Paul Rowe in Cornwall, staff leading our Centre of Excellence, and a team of scouts who cover grass-roots fixtures from under-7 to under-16s on a weekly basis.
"A big shoutout also to the boys' grass-roots clubs and coaches whose support and impact on the boys has been invaluable to their success."
Congratulations, boys, and welcome to Argyle.
