Schumacher Nominated for Manager of the Month

Steven Schumacher has been nominated for Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for August.

The Argyle boss has been acknowledged for The Pilgrims’ strong start to the season, as Argyle finished August in fifth place in the table, having won three games from five in the month.

Not only will Schumacher compete against three other managers for the award, but he will also sit in opposite dugouts from them all during September.

Saturday’s opponents Sheffield Wednesday are managed by Darren Moore, and he too finds himself on the August shortlist after The Owls won four and lost one in August, with each win containing a clean sheet.  

Argyle head to Portsmouth on Saturday, 17 September, and their boss Danny Cowley also made the list. After drawing their first two games 0-0, Pompey have won their last five, four of which were in August.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna rounds off the list. The Tractor Boys currently top the division, having won all four of their away games, and scored 13 points from their five August fixtures. Argyle meet Ipswich on Sunday, 25 September.

Schumacher was nominated for and won the award for March 2022, as Argyle won six games from seven.
