Sam Cosgrove Signs
Argyle have signed Sam Cosgrove on a season-long loan deal from Birmingham City.
The six-foot-five centre forward joins The Pilgrims on transfer deadline day to bolster Steven Schumacher’s squad.
Cosgrove, 25, spent last season out on loan, firstly with Shrewsbury Town and then with AFC Wimbledon, both in Sky Bet League One.
After playing in Everton’s academy, he did his apprenticeship at Wigan Athletic, signing professionally with The Latics and having early loan spells with various sides in the North West before signing for Carlisle United.
After half a season in Cumbria, Sam joined Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, and a very successful time at Pittodrie. He scored 47 goals in three years with The Dons, including a season in which he notched 17 league goals, the second highest total in the division that season.
His form north of the border led to a move to Birmingham City in January 2021, for whom he has featured 15 times, mostly from the subs’ bench.
Sam will wear the number 16 shirt while he is a Pilgrim.
Welcome, Sam!
