Rooney imposed with one-match touchline ban

Argyle Head Coach Wayne Rooney was charged by the Football Association for improper and/or abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official, which led to his dismissal during our match against Blackburn Rovers. It was further alleged that following his dismissal his conduct was improper and/or violent and it was also alleged that by returning to the field of play after being dismissed his behaviour was improper.

Rooney admitted to the charges and an independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a one-match touchline ban and £5,500 fine.

We accept and note the FA’s decision and Wayne will now serve his touchline ban immediately at Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Cardiff City.

The club will be making no further comment.
