Report | Leyton Orient Under-18s 0 Argyle 3
Argyle are into the next round of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup after a comfortable victory over Leyton Orient.
Two goals from Freddie Issaka, either side of a Cole Gibbings effort, saw them win in East London.
Orient had a chance to score within the first ten seconds, as Charlie Pegrum burst forward from the kick and shot wide.
The young Pilgrims soon put this behind them as they forced numerous corners with skipper Oscar Halls heading the best chance narrowly over the home crossbar.
Joe Hatch fired just wide on the half hour before another Halls header struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced just the wrong side of the goal-line.
The breakthrough came on 36 minutes when a ball over the top sent Issaka running clear to supply a cool finish and give Argyle a slender lead at the break.
Argyle were denied a second goal, four minutes after the resumption, by the assistant's offside flag after Jack Endacott's shot was saved and Hatch tapped in the rebound.
A fine save by the home goalkeeper denied Will Jenkins-Davies a goal from a trademark free kick before Argyle’s supremacy finally translated into a second goal.
Halls again dominated aerially, and from his knock-down Gibbings guided home from close range on 71 minutes.
The result was assured seven minutes later as Issaka cut inside from the left wing before curling his shot home with style.
