Queens Park Rangers (A) Galloway's Reaction

Team Argyle truly came together on Wednesday night in West London.

The Pilgrims drew 0-0 with Queens Park Rangers, but the basic scoreline tells only part of the tale. Argyle roared out of the blocks, creating numerous chances early on and being in control of the patterns of play.

However, Dan Scarr was sent off for a foul tackle on Ilias Chair after 25 minutes, and from there the focus became seeing the game out, and defending as a unit.

Brendan Galloway was at the heart of this performance, starting the game at left-back and then playing on the left of a back three in a reshuffled line-up following Scarr’s dismissal.

Galloway commended the way his team-mates held together, but also praised the 2,000-strong Green Army, whose non-stop noise from the away end motivated their men in green.

“It was a good result in the end,” said Brendan. “With the circumstances, we stayed together. We fought for each other, we ran for each other, and we just worked as a team. When you come off with a clean sheet, first of all, and then with a point, It's always a good feeling, especially away from home.

“We know that they like to put it in the box and all we wanted to do was just defend our box. We knew that when they had the extra man, we might have to adjust.

“The communication was perfect and our positioning was perfect - it had to be because they’re a threatening side. They put some real good balls into the box. As a unit, as a whole team, the midfielders sometimes had to drop in and clear it.

“We had to make sure that we were brave to compete, first of all, and just to defend our box. We work on it in training and it's good that it pays off in games.

“We managed to have a short little team talk [after the red card]. The gaffer pulled us; just a little adjustment to the game plan. First of all, we knew that they had the man advantage, so we had to work just as hard, we had to cover a lot more ground.

“I thought that we were on top [before the sending-off]. We were controlling the game. The game plan was going perfectly. We had some chances and, up until that point, I think that we were the team on top.

“After [the red card], the game changes and momentum swings, especially when they're at home with their crowd cheering them on.

“But with the away fans also cheering us on, it was just as loud and it gave us that extra motivation.

“In times like this, with what happened in the game, we needed them. Just hearing them, seeing them, gave us that extra motivation. It pushed us those extra yards towards the end. We were fighting for each other, but then also fighting for the fans and wanting to let them go home happy.

“Of course, we want to win every game that we play in but, in hindsight, I think today was a good point.”
