Preview | London Bees v Argyle Women
Argyle Women return to league action this weekend at The Hive London Stadium to take on London Bees in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.
This Sunday’s clash will be the first league game in two months for The Greens. Since then, Argyle have had spirited cup runs in the League Cup and FA Cup that have given Ryan Perks’ side confidence ahead of their return to league football and the ability to try new things both on and off the pitch.
“Our last league game was in November, so it’s been a big gap,” said Perks. “The gap has allowed us to grow in confidence since then. Not only have we given a good account of ourselves in the cups, but the players have also been giving it their all in training, week in and week out, to hopefully rectify our run of form prior.”
London Bees are next to face the travelling Greens this weekend and are currently four points clear of relegation. The Bees’ previous game against Argyle saw them score two goals early on. Jemma Rose would score a goal for Argyle in the second half, but the Greens' revitalised retaliation wasn’t enough to level the scoreline.
“We were poor in the first half against London Bees last time,” said Perks. “We conceded two early on, which at the time was our Achilles heel and we have since dealt with that. Second half, we responded well and got a goal for our efforts, but it was just too little, too late at the end of the day.”
“I’m very confident in our chances this weekend. We’ve got an important set of fixtures coming up now and every result is going to count. The girls are raring to go and are eager to come back to league football and take all three points away from home this Sunday.”
The game will be held at The Hive London Stadium, kick-off is at 2pm. Tickets cost £5, concessions cost £2 and U17s cost £1. If you cannot make it to the game, then updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
