Norwich City (A) | Foster's Reaction
At half-time at Carrow Road, on Good Friday, Argyle were 1-0 up at Norwich City, the side in the Sky Bet Championship in the best home form in the division.
Ultimately, Norwich made a second-half comeback, with Josh Sargent’s equaliser cancelling out a Morgan Whittaker first-half header, and then Sam McCallum’s deflected header giving the Canaries the lead they would carry through to the end, to give them their seventh straight home win.
For Head Coach Ian Foster, the game left him pleased with Argyle’s general performances, but rueing some missed opportunities, which ultimately proved costly.
“We’re desperately disappointed to come away from the game without anything,” he said. “I’m proud of the players today. I thought it was a solid away performance.
“There were key incidents in the game. We have to take responsibility for some of those, in terms of our ruthlessness – or lack of it – in front of goal. We could have put the game to bed.
“There are also key moments in the game where we feel the officials have hugely let us down. It’s really frustrating for me, it’s really frustrating for the supporters, and for the players who worked tirelessly today. We’re bitterly disappointed to come away with nothing.
“The players have always [put the effort in]. With the break that they have had, the physical data is through the roof in terms of their effort and application. We were a massive threat going the other way today, and we should have scored more. That’s on us.”
The second game of the Easter weekend is at Home Park, against Bristol City, who kicked off the period with a win against promotion-chasing Leicester City.
Foster said: “The most important is that we don’t feel sorry for ourselves, that we stick together, recover properly, and we’ll be ready on Monday at three o’clock.
“They’ve just shown what they are capable of, by beating Leicester City, and we know it will be a difficult game, but we’ll be right up for it.”
