Neil Hague
We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of former Argyle player Neil Hague. He was 72.
Neil played 113 times for Argyle, scoring 17 goals, between 1971 and 1974. He was mostly a defender, but his versatility meant he played all over the field during his tenure at Argyle, and indeed in his whole career.
He began his career with Rotherham United, his local side, playing 170 times. His final game for the Millers was a 4-3 victory, in which he scored the winner. Curiously, the game was against Argyle, who subsequently signed him, with Ellis Stuttard calling the player a ‘bargain’ at £13,000.
He was voted as Argyle’s Player of the Year in 1972/73, and would go on to play for Bournemouth, Huddersfield Town and Darlington, before finishing his career in America. He would later return to Plymouth following his retirement from football.
Our best wishes to Neil’s family and friends.
