Morgan Whittaker Named December Player of the Month
Morgan Whittaker has won the CT1 Argyle Player of the Month award for December.
Morgan won the fans' poll with 63.2% of the total vote. It is Morgan's third player-of-the-month nod of the season, having won the award in September and October. Kaine Kesler-Hayden won the August award, with Lewis Gibson winning in November.
Gibson was also third in this month's poll, with Finn Azaz just ahead in second, and Brendan Galloway fourth.
Whittaker played in all seven of Argyle's December fixtures, and scored four goals. He scored the injury-time winner in a 3-2 win over Rotherham United; the final equalising goal as the Greens drew 3-3 with Birmingham City; and then both goals in a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City on Boxing Day. This has brought Morgan to 12 goals for the season, as the New Year dawns.
"It shows how happy I am at the moment, and how confident I am in playing," said Morgan, on receiving the award. "I’m getting the awards, but everyone is helping, and hopefully it continues.
"In my head I wanted to get to the same numbers as when I was recalled last season. To be on more than that, I’m more than happy.
"As far as highlights go, Cardiff is up there, for the kind of game it was. Even though we scored two, we were disappointed not to win it.
"I’d like to thank all the fans for their support, of me personally and of the team. It really means a lot."
