Matt Butcher Leaves Argyle

Argyle and Matt Butcher have mutually agreed to cancel Matt's contract to allow him to pursue an opportunity elsewhere.

Butcher has agreed to sign for Wycombe Wanderers, who are 19th in Sky Bet League One.

Matt, 26, played 66 times for Argyle, after joining in the summer of 2022. He played 40 times, making 31 starts, in the Pilgrims’ title-winning season of 2022/23.

Butcher’s three goals for Argyle all came in that season: all away from home, and all in victories. He scored the opening goals in wins at Oxford United and Accrington Stanley during the second half of last season’s thrilling campaign, then forever wrote himself into the Argyle history books with the only goal in a pivotal 1-0 win at Exeter City in April.

Matt departs Home Park as a title-winner, and with our very best wishes for the future.
