Match Preview | St Austell Ladies v Argyle Women
This Sunday, 25 September, Plymouth Argyle Women will begin their FAWNL League Cup/Plate journey, as they compete against AFC St Austell Ladies at Poltair Park.
After last weekend’s win over Crawley Wasps in the Southern Premier Division, the Greens will be looking to build on their performance with another win. This time however they will not have the comforts of their own home.
St Austell Ladies will play host for this deciding round of the League Cup. The winner of this round will continue to advance through to the next stage of the cup, whilst the remaining team will continue into the league plate.
Argyle’s last competitive result against the Lilywhites ended in a 4-2 win away from home in the Women’s FA Cup. However, their most recent match was in pre-season, where the Pilgrims won 11-0 away from home. Since then, St Austell have struggled to kickstart their season and find themselves bottom of the Division One South West League.
“We created lots of opportunities against Crawley, and we want to continue that,” said Argyle boss Ryan Perks. “We want to try and score as many goals as we can, and bring some more confidence into the attackers, which hopefully will translate into our upcoming fixtures.
“We’ve played against St Austell in pre-season, and since then both teams have changed. St Austell haven't had the best of starts, but they’ll be eager to change that. We must ensure we maintain the positive momentum we’ve gained from the Crawley game and continue to build on that.”
The game will be held at Poltair Park, kick-off is at 2pm. Tickets cost £4, concessions cost £3, Under-16s have free entry. If you cannot make it to the game, updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
