Leyton Orient (H) | Warrington's Preview
Lewis Warrington has had to wait for his Argyle debut, having been an unused substitute as the Greens won 3-1 against Huddersfield Town in the first game of the Sky Bet Championship season on Saturday, but he is expected to play a part as Argyle return to action on Tuesday night.
The Pilgrims meet Leyton Orient in the first round of this season’s Carabao Cup, with manager Steven Schumacher suggesting he will rotate his squad for the fixture.
Warrington, on loan from Everton, might not have got into the action against Huddersfield, but he was impressed with what he saw.
“I thought we were excellent,” he told Argyle TV. “I thought we executed the game plan that the gaffer put out superbly. As soon as we stepped on the pitch, I just knew we were going to win the game.
“When we scored the second, you just knew we were going to score the third. [The crowd] sucked the ball into the net, really. It was great.”
“I'm still getting to grips with how the gaffer wants to play and I didn't really expect to play much on Saturday anyway; it was really good to see how the gaffer wants to play.
“We’ve just got to go out there and try to win every game. No matter who we’re playing, no matter what competition it is. Tuesday, the focus is all on that. Hopefully we go out like how we left off on Saturday, win the game and put in a good performance for the fans.”
