Leicester City (H) | Dewsnip's Preview

As the Sky Bet Championship season enters its last four games, Argyle begin the final quartet of fixtures with an encounter against league leaders Leicester City.

As if the table-topping Foxes coming to town wasn’t enough, the game is given added spice by the attendance of Sky Sports, as well.

With the cameras fixed on Home Park, Argyle become the nation’s focus for an evening, something Director of Football Neil Dewsnip is looking forward to.

“It’s an opportunity for the players to showcase what they can do against an outstanding football team,” he said. “It’s an opportunity for our supporters to show the nation what they're all about.

“We know that, of course; but an opportunity for everyone to show the nation that we're quite a good football club.

“They are pushing for promotion. Not just promotion; they'll be looking to win the league. For us, it's about gaining as many points as we possibly can, as quickly as we can, in order to stay in this league, which has been our goal all season long.

“Nothing has changed. I’ve heard one or two comments around ‘Leicester's a free hit’. Not a chance. If you said that to our players, they would scream at you. They see this as an opportunity to get one, three points even, in our quest to survive.

“It's an opportunity to win. Without going too deep, you can name a million examples of when teams that perhaps weren't supposed to beat a so-called bigger and better team, have done so. We'll be trying, like we're playing anybody else, in the hope that we can perform well and get some points out of this game.”

Since Dewsnip and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell resumed their positions in charge of the side, Argyle have won 1-0 at Rotherham United and drew 1-1 at home to Queens Park Rangers. As unbeaten runs go, it is not going to send ripples through the footballing world, but the four-point haul from those two games has come in handy. If anything similar can be sustained, Argyle can step towards securing divisional safety.

“Two games is not [a huge sample size],” said Dewsnip, “but if we can keep not losing, winning somewhere in there as well, over the next four games, then we'll be delighted.

“We don't have a magic number of points that we're looking to achieve. We're just trying to get as many as we possibly can. Friday is an opportunity to get three. If we can't get three, we'll get one. If we can't get any at all, we'll ride on to the next game and try and do exactly the same and get three there.”
