Leeds United (A) | Emirates FA Cup | Foster's Preview

Fixture List

It will be the second time Argyle have visited Elland Road this season, albeit on this occasion led by new Head Coach Ian Foster.

Perhaps not the Emirates FA Cup fourth round draw many Argyle fans would have looked out for, but one Foster can't wait for and an opportunity for his team to test themselves against one of the biggest clubs in the country, in a hostile environment.

Elland Road is a stadium steeped in history, with a loyal fan base, no matter the competition.

"It is probably the toughest draw we could have got outside of a Premier League side," Foster said. "They are obviously flying at the moment in the league, and they are unbeaten at Elland Road this season. But it is a great challenge and an opportunity for the players to go and showcase what they can do.

"It is one of the best stadiums you could wish to play in. I said that to the players, it's got history and character and one of the few grounds left like that. We can go up there and really have a go.

"We want to challenge Leeds, we want to beat them and get into the fifth round of the FA Cup. We are aware that will be difficult, but we will embrace it and hopefully the players, as ever, can do themselves proud."

Both sides will become familiar with each other over the coming weeks, with Daniel Farke's side due to travel to Home Park in just three weeks time, with the previous encounter at Elland Road only a short time ago as well.

Although Argyle's previous visit ended in a 2-1 defeat, Foster will look for his players to lean on their first taste of the West Yorkshire stadium.

He added: "A lot of the players have had a taste for the atmosphere at Elland Road. That will help us, and it will be a wonderful atmosphere. We have got to stay together, stay calm and stick to our game plan. There will be difficult moments in the game for sure, but we have got to give it our best and hopefully that will be enough."

Leeds loanee Darko Gyabi is unavailable to feature against his parent club, while Alfie Devine and Adam Forshaw are cup tied so will also not be available for selection. Their absences will give Foster an opportunity to look at players throughout his squad.

Asked what he is looking for from his group of players, Foster concluded: "I am looking for what I have seen in training from them.

"We want competition for places, and when you come into a new group you want to give players opportunities to show what they have got. The players have trained impeccably and impressed me, and some have also impacted games previously when I have used them off the bench.

"We will obviously make those three changes at least and then see. I'm hoping for a good performance and we are aiming to pick up a good result."
