Project 35

Latest Project 35 fixture a huge success

Argyle’s recent home match against Leicester City was the club’s fourth Project 35 Takeover fixture to take place at Home Park - and it was a success, once again, on and off the pitch.

In the lead-up to the match, Trust staff, Project 35 partners Ginsters, and Project 35 Pledge 35 volunteers collected an amazing £1,200 and nearly 1,500 items worth of donations from the Green Army, the local community, and travelling Foxes fans outside the Babcock Devonport End.

We would also like to send our thanks to Mike from Okapi SC for his one-off donation to further boost our Takeover fixture total.

The on-field action was a triumph, as well, with Mustapha Bundu’s goal handing Argyle the win against the league leaders and three valuable points.

Across four fan appeals, over two seasons, a staggering 5.9 tonnes of food items and over £2,100 of donations have been collected thanks to your generosity. The immense support from the Green Army for these events has generated more than 6,700 meals for those in need across Devon and Cornwall.

The donations have been transported to Manadon Sports and Community Hub to aid Project 35 Food Larder members. This is accessible every Friday from 9.30am to midday and is available to those who require food support for themselves or their family.

The Project 35 Food Club launched in May 2023 and has over 200 members signed up, with an average of 40 people accessing the initiative weekly. For more information, please contact the Hub or trevor.higgins@pafc.co.uk.

Alice Young, Argyle Community Trust’s Community Programmes Manager said: “We extend our gratitude to all fans who contributed to the donations and have supported Project 35 across the last two seasons. At each match, it’s truly humbling to see the generosity and kindness through all the donations we receive.

“The Pledge 35 volunteers' support and dedication have propelled Project 35, showcasing the power of community. It's through these collective efforts that we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.”

Debbie Moss, Ginsters’ Brand Communications Co-ordinator said: “It was fantastic to see the Green Army and Leicester City fans unite to support Project 35’s Takeover fixture. The Argyle fans have really embraced this initiative and are always eager to give whatever they can. We can’t thank them enough.

“I’m really proud of the Project 35 partnership between Ginsters, Plymouth Argyle Football Club and Argyle Community Trust. The supporters make these events such a success, enabling the project to help the communities in our local areas. The ability to provide 6,700 meals is an unbelievable outcome from across the four fixtures.

“The result and the atmosphere at the ground made this whole event unforgettable, and as match sponsors, we could not have asked for a better evening.”

Project 35 is more than food donations. Activities are taking place throughout Devon and Cornwall during school holidays, free education and wellbeing sessions are provided to children and adults, and volunteers are supporting the work of other food charities through new initiatives this season.
