Kaya Gallery Returns for Knockout Stage
Having backed the Greens with shirt sleeve sponsorship for their decisive Papa Johns Trophy group victory over Crystal Palace under-21s last month, local business Kaya Gallery will continue their journey with the team into the second round tie against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening.
Based in Plymouth’s historic and picturesque waterfront Barbican neighbourhood, Kaya Gallery is owned by Chris Warne, a loyal Argyle fan who wanted to use his independent business to lend further support to the club. In particular, Warne has a passion for seeing young local talent prosper, with Kaya Gallery also sponsoring Argyle starlet Caleb Roberts, who was signed to a professional deal at Home Park on his 17th birthday.
It made sense, then, for Kaya Gallery to further its support for Argyle in the Papa Johns Trophy, a competition renowned for providing emerging youngsters the opportunity to gain valuable competitive experience in a first team environment.
“I am really pleased to be on the sleeves of Argyle’s shirt again. We were all filled with pride after the game against Crystal Palace U21’s and couldn’t refuse the opportunity to have Kaya Gallery adorn the famous green shirts for the Round of 32.”
Kaya Gallery hosts renowned works from the likes of Brian Pollard, Beryl Cook and Robert Lenkiewicz, combined with other offerings from regional artists and contemporary photographers – but it was a recent addition to the store’s front window that has seen more potential customers popping into the Gallery for a browse.
A squad-signed match shirt from the Crystal Palace fixture, settled by a late Niall Ennis strike, stands proudly in the window at Kaya Gallery, and an increase in visitors and comments from passers-by encouraged Chris to extend the partnership into the knockout stages of the competition.
Tom Martin, Argyle’s Commercial Sales Manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Kaya Gallery back on board for our next Papa Johns Trophy fixture, and thank them for their support of the club.
“This sponsorship is an excellent example of how working with Argyle can benefit all types of businesses, and Chris’ story of the signed shirt in the Gallery window is heart-warming, and underlines the buzz around the club in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall at the moment.
“It is brilliant to be able to work with more independent organisations in the city, and long may it continue.”
