Jenkins Davies' Swindon Reaction
In August, Will Jenkins Davies scored four times for Argyle Under-18s against Swindon Town in the Youth Alliance League.
On Tuesday night, he scored a quarter of the amount of goals against The Robins – but the pleasure he will have felt from this strike would be exponentially higher.
This time, the goal came The Pilgrims’ first team, as Will got the opening goal in Argyle’s 3-1 win over Swindon in the Papa Johns Trophy.
Will’s first senior goal can just before the half-hour mark of the game, and was quickly followed by Will’s fellow rookie Oscar Halls getting his tally going too, as he headed home a cross from another teenager, Jack Endacott.
In the second half, Ryan Hardie made it 3-0, before Swindon grabbed a late goal to gain a measure of consolation.
Naturally, when speaking to Argyle TV after the game, Jenkins Davies was still buzzing.
“It’s brilliant,” he said. “It’s a surreal moment. It’s a moment I’ve lived up to all my life – it’s brilliant to be able to check it off tonight.
“I was trying to get myself in and around the penalty area early when Jack was putting the ball in – he put brilliant crosses in all game. I was just trying to get myself in and around there, and if anything falls to me, try to get on it. I was lucky that the ball came to me at the right time, right place and I managed to put it in.
“We were unfortunate not to get the clean sheet. We played really well in spells of the game and they didn’t really have too much of a sniff until a few chances in the second half.
“[The message was] To go out and enjoy it, seize the opportunity really. Don’t let the game go by.
“When you are in form it is brilliant to be able to keep that momentum going and hopefully I can get back amongst the goals with the 18s again.”
