Graham Carey to play for Argyle at TST
Argyle legend Graham Carey will don the Argyle green once again this summer as he becomes the first player to commit to Argyle’s ‘The Soccer Tournament’ (TST) squad.
Led by Head Player Coach David Norris and Assistant Player Coach Jamie Lowry, Argyle will head to Cary, North Carolina to take part in the 7v7 $1million winner takes all tournament.
Carey, who is still plying his trade in the Scottish Premiership for St Johnstone, is a firm Green Army favourite and made 197 appearances for Argyle, scoring 49 goals, across a four-year period.
He will now form part of Norris and Lowry’s squad as an Argyle legends side heads Stateside for the tournament featuring the likes of AFC Bournemouth, Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund from June 4-9.
Upon the announcement, the 35-year-old commented: “Everyone knows my affinity with Argyle and how much I loved my time at this football club.
“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to wear the Argyle green once again, and although it is a slightly different format, I am really looking forward to heading to America.
“I have heard a lot of great things about TST and what a great tournament it is.
“I can’t wait to represent Argyle again and hope to see as many of the Green Army, both old and new, in North Carolina, as possible.”
