Argyle defender Brendan Galloway is not going to let an injured hand ruin what promises to be a thrilling end of the Sky Bet League One season.

Galloway broke several bones in his right hand at Morecambe, and missed the Greens subsequent home loss against Lincoln City, as the cast on his arm was not deemed safe enough.

However, with input from physio Gareth Law and some hand specialists, Brendan now has a more lightweight cast, supported by strapping, and was able to play in Saturday’s victory against Exeter City – a game Brendan clearly enjoyed.

“A Devon Derby - we know what it means to the fans,” he said. “We know what it means to the players.

“To go there and get three points - especially at their place - felt really good, with all our traveling fans there. I hope they had a great day out and hopefully we put a smile on their faces.

“[My hand] is alright. Anytime that you're in a game, you don't think about it, you just think about the performance and about getting three points. Lawsy did some work with me to get me back on the pitch where I want to be. It was frustrating at first, thinking that this season could be over, but we worked hard and now I'm just enjoying playing. If that's what it means to play and to try to win, then by all means.”

Argyle travel to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday, a game that begins the final five matches of the season. Following the trip to Shropshire, the Pilgrims have a run of three home fixtures, before the final game, at Port Vale.

The Greens head into this run-in on top of the division, and Brendan is relishing the task at hand, which sees very little let-up in the fixtures list.

“Game, recovery. Game, recovery. Game, recovery,” said Brendan mapping up the coming days. “As a footballer, you want to be playing every three, four days.

“It's enjoyable. This is where you want to be in football. This is what you want to be fighting for. We all want to get the club where it should be.

“We focus on Shrewsbury. After that, we focus on the next one, and then the next one. There are five big ones left and we're feeling confident. We're up for the fight. It’s going to be exciting.

“We’ve got three home games in a week, so that's going to be fantastic – you just want to be out on the pitch.

“We just have to keep the momentum up. All the players can feel that it's an exciting moment for everyone. We’ll keep going, game by game and I'm sure that we'll get there.”
