Evergreen USA Trip winners
We are delighted to introduce the two Evergreen members who have won an amazing four-day trip to the United States.
Richard Leppard + Guest and Jacob Dobson + Guest will enjoy four days in the USA, with flights, accommodation and £500 spending money all included in the prize. Our winners and their guests will also join Argyle chairman Simon Hallett at a top American sports fixture.
This is their view on Argyle and an amazing Evergreen experience:
Richard Leppard
“I probably first fell in love with Argyle when I moved out of Devon in the late 80s because it was my connection with home. My heart is in Plymouth and the club was my contact with coming home.
“I’m told by a good friend that my first game was a 3-3 draw with Grimsby but I was probably going more for the day out than a love of football, at the time. It was when I moved away that I really missed Argyle.
“I lived in Brighton and couldn’t really afford to travel to away games. When my wife, Carol, and I earned a bit more money, we became able to attend more games. My Carol is from Sussex but she loves the Argyle and organises all the away trips for me.
“For years, when we lived in Sussex, we would spend ridiculous amounts of money driving to games, setting off in the early hours of the morning. Our great pleasure was getting home in time for last orders at the pub.
“I’ve been fortunate to win different things down the years and my first instinct is to give it away because other people deserve it more than me. My Carol and I spoke about it and we would love to go to America because we haven’t been since our honeymoon but we will definitely be making a donation to the club as well.”
Jacob Dobson
“I first started watching Argyle as a young kid in 2002, it was around the time we were winning our first promotions with Luggy.
“I went to University in Southampton in 2018 and I’m still here now but try get to as many games as possible. I’m Plymouth born and bred, and all my family are still down in Plymouth.
“Down the years, there have been so many great players and heroes of mine. People like David Norris, Graham Carey, Bradley Wright-Phillips and definitely Luke McCormick and Romain Larrieu, because I played as a goalkeeper and they were two guys I idolised.
“When it comes to managers, it would have to be Schuey, he’s done so well for us and made it such an exciting time to be an Argyle fan.
“When I received the call about the USA trip, I actually said to my wife that I thought it was a practical joke. It was only when I saw the announcement on twitter that it sunk in and I’m very grateful to have won.”
