Ella Stephens signs for Argyle
Ella Stephens has signed for Argyle Women, after playing for Devon rivals Torquay United last season.
The 17-year-old right-sided defender played against Argyle for Torquay during 2023/24 and, despite playing on the losing side, impressed Pilgrims Head Coach Ryan Perks, who kept her performance in his mind.
Ella has been training with the Argyle squad and will now line up at Coach Road on Tuesday evening in a green shirt – ironically enough, against Torquay.
“We bumped into Ella last season in the County Cup, and she stood out straight away,” Perks said.
“We showed our interest early and we’re delighted to get the deal over the line. She’s getting along well with the group and wants to learn, so I'm looking forward to working with her this season."
“I’m really excited,” Ella told Argyle TV. “It’s great to be here and see everything at Home Park and how the club is set up.
“I’m excited to get started, meet the girls, and get going.
“I played for Torquay last season and enjoyed my first season of Women's football. I can’t wait to get going. I think I’m a quick player and can bring an attacking and defensive style to the side, and I hope that can help the team this season.”
