Donning Kaya Gallery for Dons Tie
For the third consecutive Papa Johns Trophy fixture, the Greens’ shirt sleeves will be adorned by the logo of Plymouth independent business Kaya Gallery.
Located in the waterfront setting of the Barbican, Kaya Gallery has sponsored the Greens’ Papa Johns Trophy run since the final group game against Crystal Palace.
Kaya Gallery owner, Chris Warne, is a devoted Argyle fan passionate about seeing the Pilgrims’ Academy graduates prosper. In the round of 32 victory over Charlton Athletic, 17-year-old midfielder Caleb Roberts – who is sponsored by Kaya Gallery – scored the winning goal.
According to Warne, it was a perfect moment and underlined why Kaya Gallery has committed to sponsoring the youthful Pilgrims as they plot a course for the business end of the competition
Chris said: “Having watched Caleb score his first goal for the club in the last round, seeing the opportunity given to our youth products in the Papa Johns Trophy, and how close we are to Wembley, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to adorn the sleeves of our beloved Greens for a third time.”
Kaya Gallery hosts renowned works from the likes of Brian Pollard, Beryl Cook and Robert Lenkiewicz, combined with other offerings from regional artists and contemporary photographers – and the shop window proudly presents the gallery’s signed match worn shirt from their first sponsored game against Crystal Palace.
Tom Martin, Argyle’s Commercial Sales Manager, said: “We are thankful to Chris and Kaya Gallery for their continued support of the club through our Papa Johns Trophy run.
“It was a special moment for all Argyle fans to see Caleb become the club’s fifth-youngest goalscorer against Charlton Athletic in the last round, but it was extra special for Kaya Gallery – given their sponsorship of the player and the team throughout the competition.
“Caleb’s success is an example of the huge benefits of the Papa Johns Trophy, with many of our senior pros getting their first competitive action in previous campaigns. Kaya Gallery appreciates the value of these games for our emerging talent, and their support makes a huge difference to our Academy graduates.”
