DJM Takeover Sponsored by Princess Yachts
Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash with Shrewsbury Town at Home Park is our annual DJM Takeover fixture, providing 1,800 of the region’s junior footballers the opportunity to watch Argyle for free – sponsored by club partner Princess Yachts.
The Adrenalin Devon Junior and Minor League (DJM) organises football for grass roots junior teams, providing 42 league divisions from ages under-7 to under-18 in Plymouth and the surrounding areas, with this community event further inspiring aspiring footballers in the region.
DJM is one of the largest youth leagues in the country, with nearly 6,000 players in its system, including boys’, girls’ and mixed teams throughout its 42 divisions. The free tickets for the DJM Takeover, supported by Princess Yachts, introduces a whole new demographic to the wonder of supporting their local team.
While tickets are provided to the 1,800 junior players, coaches and club volunteers free of charge, an optional donation of £2 has been encouraged – with any proceeds going to Argyle’s two partner charities for 21/22 – Dash of Silver and Dartmoor Zoo.
Mark Bowles, General Secretary of the DJM, said: "Over 1,800 players from our League are so grateful for the opportunity to support their local team, and for many this will be their first visit to the club. It is an amazing opportunity and we thank Argyle and their sponsors Princess Yachts for supporting local footballers within the community.
"We are also delighted to contribute towards fundraising efforts for local charities as part of the day."
The DJM Takeover fixture fittingly coincides with EFL Youth Development Week, a week-long campaign to highlight the success stories of youth Academies throughout the football league.
Argyle’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Jamie Yabsley, said: “After missing out last year due to Covid restrictions, we so excited that the DJM Takeover returns on Saturday.
“It’s always a great community day and we are thrilled to be adding nearly 2,000 young supporters to an already healthy crowd at Home Park. More than just a great day, though, it provides us with the perfect opportunity to convert more young supporters into following their local club and build a lifelong bond with Argyle – which is vital for developing our fanbase in the years ahead.
“We hope everyone enjoys their experience, and the extra support can spur the team on to a win.”
