Crawford and Papaioannou pen Argyle contracts
Argyle are delighted to announce that Panagiota Papaioannou and Imy Crawford have put pen to paper, signing official club contracts.
The familiar duo have amassed over 200 combined appearances for the Greens and with the prior contract signing of Ellie Sara, Argyle’s important 2024/25 campaign preparation continues to head on an upward path.
Captain Papaioannou is in her seventh season in green, having made her debut in the 2018/19 season, and recently joined the list of centurions whilst leading her team last campaign.
“I’m really excited,” Giota told Argyle TV. “It’s something I’ve dreamed of since joining the club six years ago. I’m thrilled to get it over the line.
“I’ve said in previous interviews that Argyle is now my second home. I’m attached to this club and am buzzing to be here for another season.
“In the last six years, I’ve seen massive changes happen, but even little things: we get to see and be around Home Park more, and with the recent announcement of us playing even more games here it shows how much we’ve grown as a club.”
Crawford, a regular in Argyle’s midfield, is only one game away from the 100 appearances mark and has been an important part of Head Coach Ryan Perks' line-up since her debut in 2020.
“It’s a really proud moment for me,” Crawford said. “I’ve been at this club since I was 16 and am proud to sign a contract here.
“I’ve worked hard for it, and with Argyle being my home club, it makes it a special moment for me. I'm so happy.
“We know that every time we come to Home Park, it’s going to be a great occasion. The girls get excited to play here. To have lots of home games at Home Park this season, it’s something we’re grateful for and, hopefully, we can put on some strong performances to show how far we’ve come as a club.”
Argyle Women’s Head Coach Ryan Perks said: “We’re delighted to get Giota and Imy signing contracts with the club. Their hard work and dedication over the past few seasons has put them in the position to be rewarded - and we’re happy that we can reward them.
“Both players know the football club extremely well and the path we’re on. We’re glad they’ve decided to continue to help us achieve our goals.”
Argyle’s pre-season is nearing its end, with only two games left before the season begins. The Greens next travel north to face Manchester United Under-21s on Saturday, 3 August.
