Caleb Roberts Signs New Contract
Argyle midfielder Caleb Roberts has signed an extension to his professional contract at Home Park.
After making his first-team debut at just 16 years old, and signing his first professional contract on his 17th birthday, Caleb has continued to catch the eye with his development, and has now committed to the club until the summer of 2026.
Caleb, who will turn 18 in October, made his debut against Arsenal Under-21s in the Papa Johns Trophy, and went on to play four times in the competition. He came on as a substitute in the Emirates FA Cup against Grimsby Town, and then followed this with an EFL debut on Boxing Day 2022 as a substitute against Cheltenham Town in a 1-0 win.
Caleb was part of the first-team setup through pre-season, and came on as a substitute against Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup.
“We have been very pleased with Caleb’s development, and therefore it is excellent news that he has extended his contract with us,” said Kevin Nancekivell, first-team coach and head of player development.
“He has shown maturity in his game, playing senior football throughout pre-season and has always looked like he belongs, playing in a particularly tough position to play in.
“Hopefully he will continue to develop and become an important player for the club.”
Director of Football Neil Dewsnip added: “It is crucial to the ongoing development of this football club that we not only produce players like Caleb – and several other young footballers we have coming through – but keep them, nurture them and develop them to the fullest of their ability.
“We have made a commitment to Caleb - we think he has a very bright future, and we want that future to be at Home Park. It is very pleasing to have his immediate future secured.”
