Armed Services Day returns this weekend
Our popular annual Armed Services Day fixture will return once again this year at this Saturday's home game against Preston North End.
As a club that proudly represents Plymouth and its distinguished military tradition, we are honoured to be able to pay tribute to all servicemen and women who serve to keep us safe and protect the freedoms we take for granted.
Argyle Club Secretary Zac Newton, a Royal Navy veteran who used to help organise Armed Services Day in his role at HMS Drake, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring Armed Services Day back to Home Park this Saturday, for the game against Preston North End.
“As a former Navy veteran, this day obviously means a lot to me personally, but as a club we are also well aware of how much it means to our supporters and the city of Plymouth.
“Our armed services sacrifice so much to ensure we are safe and protected and it is only right as a football club, and a city with a great military history, that we celebrate their efforts. It is not just about the servicepeople who sacrifice so much, though, their families also make great sacrifices in order to protect our communities, and we welcome them all to Home Park this weekend."
