Argyle Women's Preview | Bridgwater United (A)
Argyle Women travel to Fairfax Park for a midweek clash against Bridgwater United on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
Both teams have suffered two consecutive league defeats and will be looking to ignite their respective seasons under the lights in Somerset.
The Greens will be looking to carry their much improved second-half display against Oxford United last weekend into Wednesday’s match. After conceding early in the second half against the U’s, the girls put in a more solid performance, restricting Oxford to limited chances whilst carving out a few close efforts for themselves. This is something that will encourage Manager Ryan Perks and will be sure to feature in his pre-match team talk.
Bridgwater have equally struggled to get their campaign firing with their opening two games ending in 2-0 defeats. The first loss was to promotion hopefuls Oxford United, who also beat Argyle by the same scoreline, the second to a Watford side who were playing Championship football last season. This has left Bridgwater and Argyle in nearly identical positions ahead of their clash this week.
Argyle will look to draw on the depth of their squad with a few key players due to be absent. There will be a late fitness test for midfielder Kayley Lane following a slight niggle in training. Jemma Rose is unavailable for selection as well as forward Lily Greenslade due to an England call-up. Beth Ireland, who has returned to the Argyle set-up following a short stint in America, is also out with an injury.
The game will be held at Fairfax Park Stadium, kick-off is at 7:45 pm, and tickets cost £8, £5 and £3. If you cannot make it to the game, you can follow live updates on the Argyle Women’s Twitter page @ArgyleWFC.
