Argyle TV | What's On This Week
One week until Wembley.
There’s a bumper Argyle TV schedule this week as a we count down to the Papa Johns Trophy Final against Bolton Wanderers at the national stadium.
Subscribers will hear from a host of squad members and leaders at Home Park in the build-up to the Greens’ maiden cup final, including Callum Burton, whose penalty saving heroics have played a big part in the journey, captain Joe Edwards, and midfielder Jordan Houghton – who was a member of the Pilgrims’ squad on our last visit to Wembley in 2016.
Throughout the week on Argyle TV, starting on Monday afternoon with the group stage clash against Bristol Rovers, we will be making full match replays of every round of this season’s Papa Johns Trophy competition free to view on Argyle TV – meaning you don’t even have to have an active subscription to re-live our historic run.
On Monday evening, full-back Saxon Earley tackles our newest Argyle TV feature, The Private Life, answering a range of unique questions to provide greater insight into the Norwich City academy graduate’s personality away from the pitch.
Tuesday’s content includes the full match replay at Swindon Town, where Academy graduates Oscar Halls and Will Jenkins Davies bagged their first professional goals in a 3-1 win, and the replay of our final group stage game, a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Home Park, either side of a sit-down with goalkeeper Callum Burton to preview Sunday’s Final.
On Wednesday, we review a five-goal thriller against Charlton Athletic in the first knock-out round, with Niall Ennis, Sam Cosgrove and another Academy prospect, Caleb Roberts, on target in a 3-2 win. Later that evening, Jordan Houghton, who was an unused substitute in our 2016 play-off final defeat to AFC Wimbledon, talks to Argyle TV ahead of the game.
Thursday’s content comes in the form of captain Joe Edwards. A League One play-off winner at Wembley with Yeovil Town, the skipper previews Sunday’s blockbuster encounter with the Trotters, with over 70,000 supporters expected to attend.
Earlier that afternoon, we hear from the other Argyle sides in action at the weekend, with Academy boss Darren Way and Women’s manager Ryan Perks looking to get back to winning ways after a draw and a defeat, respectively.
The day’s Argyle TV action is rounded off by the full match replay of a dramatic shoot-out victory over AFC Wimbledon, with a Sam Cosgrove hat-trick seeing the Greens back from a 3-0 deficit to progress.
On Friday we hear from the top brass at Home Park. With the nation’s press descending upon the Theatre of Greens to discuss the Final, Argyle manager Steven Schumacher speaks first to Argyle TV as he prepares to become the third manager in the club’s history to lead a team out at Wembley, before Chairman Simon Hallett sits down with Charlie Price to discuss another momentous occasion under his ownership.
On Saturday, we revisit the dramatic semi-final victory over Cheltenham Town with the full match replay, before Inside Training takes supporters to Harper’s Park for the final preparations ahead of the big day.
On Sunday, with the fixture broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and through broadcasters in dozens over overseas territories, we are able to offer audio commentary only of the Final. However, the Argyle TV pre-match show will be broadcast live from Wembley, hosted by Erin Black from 1.45pm.
Post-match, Argyle manager Steven Schumacher and selected first-team players will provide their reaction to Argyle TV first, before highlights, extended highlights and the full match replay become available in the hours that follow.
