Argyle Supports Her Game Too

Plymouth Argyle are delighted to support Her Game Too for Tuesday night’s game against Bristol Rovers helping tackle sexist abuse within the realms of football.

As well as the evening clash with Bristol Rovers at Home Park, Her Game Too will also be present when Argyle Women take on Milton Keynes Dons at Manadon Sports & Community Hub on Sunday, 30 April.

#HerGameToo was founded back in 2021 by 12 female supporters passionate about eradicating sexism in the football industry.

The aim is to make sure that girls and women, no matter their age, can feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football both in stadiums and online without fear of sexist abuse. #HerGameToo also actively supports girls' football at grassroots.

The dedicated men’s Tuesday night fixture will see a variety of activities taking place which will showcase and celebrate the opportunities for young girls and women at the Club.

Members of the women’s team will be present; Steven Schumacher’s side will wear Her Game Too warm-up t-shirts, the match ball will be walked on by an Argyle Women’s player and Argyle’s female staff have been invited to take part in a half-time lap of honour.

On the big screen at half-time fans will also see a special club focused Her Game Too video featuring players and members of staff, which will also be available to view on Argyle TV.

Finally, there will be Her Game Too features in the match day programme and across the Club’s social media and a special donation point will be set up to collect items for women’s groups – Trevi, Harbour and Gifted Women.

If you would like to donate some items to help support the many women using these services, you can do so by locating the bright pink Project 35 marquee and Argyle Community Trust van outside the Devonport End from 6.30pm.

Items needed are:

  • Tampons (with and without applicators)
  • Sanitary Towels
  • Razors
  • Shaving Foam
  • Shower Gel
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Face Wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Hand Cream
  • Moisturiser
  • Hair Brushes
  • Hair Bobbles

All items for donation will need to be dropped-off before entering the stadium, to ensure you do not enter with prohibited items, that will be confiscated by stadium security.

Plymouth Argyle’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager, Siobhan Robbie-James said: “Dedicating Tuesday’s game helps raise awareness of the campaign and reach more of our female fans, demonstrating that Home Park is welcome to everybody. Her Game Too has partnered with over 60 of the 92 league clubs and if the campaign helps just one fan to feel more welcome in the football community, then we are succeeding.

“The night is also a celebration of all the women who work at the club (many who work tirelessly behind the scenes), our women’s and our girls’ teams. I feel proud to work for a club that genuinely cares about its staff, supporters and the community and hope many more women come to find Home Park as a great place to work and Plymouth Argyle a team to support and to play for.”
