Argyle Coaches Supporting Grassroots Sessions in Devon and Cornwall

Fixture Sync

In partnership with Cornwall and Devon Football Associations, Argyle coaches will be running a series of events designed at developing and enriching local football coaches.

Starting on Tuesday, 26 September, in Penryn, and taking place periodically in various Devon and Cornwall venues during the season, Argyle staff will be taking coaching sessions, designed at sharing their knowledge.

Director of Football Neil Dewsnip, and first-team coach and Head of Player Development Kevin Nancekivell are among the personnel taking part during the season, along with numerous experienced and highly-qualified coaches from throughout the Argyle Academy.

The events will offer local grassroots coaches the opportunity to see Argyle staff in action, taking coaching sessions, and sharing some of the insights they use on a regular basis in professional football.

Coaches will be interactive during sessions, demonstrating their methods and explaining the thought that goes behind the sort of session they produce on a daily basis.

Argyle Director of Football Neil Dewsnip said: “It is really important to us, as one of the highest profile sports organisations in Devon and Cornwall, is that we appreciate, understand, and are grateful to the grassroots.

“We are at an exciting time for the football at all levels, with the ongoing Brickfields project, where we hope to provide an elite hub for coaching and development, at the forefront.

“Grassroots football provides our future Academy players; people like Adam Randell and Michael Cooper started in grassroots once upon a time. It's important that we acknowledge that and it's important that we stay in tune with them. These kinds of events are opportunities to do that.

“It also means we can help and support the local coaches in Devon and Cornwall. Some of them might be the future coaches of Argyle’s Academy, too.

“It's very important for us to maintain those links. It is in our interests to do so, and in the interests of local FAs to support and work with us on projects, as we want to ensure we give back to the grassroots game.”
