Adam Parkes Signs
Argyle have signed free agent Adam Parkes.
Goalkeeper Adam has signed a deal to join The Pilgrims until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Weymouth-born Parkes, 22, progressed through the Southampton academy and signed his first professional deal in 2016. He also represented England at Under-17 level.
He moved to Watford in 2019, and gained experience with loan spells at Havant & Waterlooville and Barnet, before spending the 2021/22 season on loan with Dover Athletic in the Vanarama National League, playing 22 games.
He was released by Watford in the summer. Argyle are able to bring him in, even after the transfer deadline, as free agents are still eligible to be signed.
Argyle goalkeeping coach Darren Behcet said of the signing: “We’re bringing Adam in to strengthen our goalkeeping department, to bring depth to the squad. It’s a good signing for us. He’s going to push Callum and Michael.
“He’s got a background at Southampton and Watford, and has experience in the National League. That’s something we were looking for, a goalkeeper to come in that had played men’s football; he has that on his side.
“The biggest thing for Adam is to be in this environment and to keep learning and developing. He’ll bring a natural ability, he’s a very good shot-stopper and a very good distributor of the ball. We’ll add to those strength and work on other areas.”
Adam will wear squad number 32 for Argyle. The deal is subject to EFL approval.
Welcome to Home Park, Adam.
