Academy Report | Argyle 3 Swindon Town 0
Kieran Edworthy's hat-trick was enough to see Argyle's youngsters complete their second double inside a week as Swindon Town were well beaten in this EFL Youth Alliance League game at Millennium Street.
The game was brought forward 24 hours to give Argyle time to recover for Monday's trip to the Medway where they will take on Gillingham in the second round of the FA Youth Cup.
Although Swindon started well it was Argyle who took an 8th minute lead courtesy of Edworthy's great strike from the edge of the area.
The visitors came back but were denied an equaliser by skipper Oscar Halls' great block.
It was only a short revival for the Robins, though, as Argyle came back at their visitors and Edworthy was twice unlucky not to increase the Pilgrims' lead.
He had better luck on 35 minutes when he calmly converted from 12 yards after Argyle had been awarded a penalty.
Argyle continued to dominate after the break with Edworthy and Will Jenkins Davies, introduced as a substitute alongside Caleb Roberts shortly after the interval, both failing to convert chances.
The failure to net a game-ending third gave Swindon another incentive to surge forward, and only a superb save from Zak Baker denied them route back into the tie on 77 minutes.
The young Greens finally made the points safe, five minutes from time, when a great pass from substitute Lewis Colwell set up Edworthy to complete a fine and memorable hat-trick.
Darren Way's side will immediately set about recovering ahead of Monday's important game against the Gills.
