Academy Play on the Pitch day to return

On Sunday, 5 May, Home Park will host our annual ‘Play on the Pitch’ day for the Argyle Academy.

Games will take place throughout the day, on the Home Park pitch, featuring a variety of age group teams, some of whom will be getting their first chance to play on the hallowed turf.

The day will start with local under-7 and under-8 sides playing small-sided fixtures, before Argyle’s youth teams from under-9 up to under-14 will all be in action in games against their counterparts from Bristol Rovers.

Argyle’s Under-15 and Under-16 teams will also be in action, on the full Home Park pitch, against Bristol City.

The event will conclude a week where Argyle’s Under-18s have secured the Merit League One title, their second divisional trophy of the season.

Argyle Academy Manager Phil Stokes said:  “This is the fourth season in which we have been able to host a Play on the Pitch Day, which is always an enjoyable day for all concerned.

“We would like to thank the football club, the first-team football department and the grounds staff for providing all our young players with the opportunity.

“It also gives us a chance to thank some of our sponsors, some of whom will be our invited guests on Sunday, for their support throughout the season too.”

"It’s also brilliant for our Academy sponsors that are able to attend on Sunday and watch the age group they have been helping throughout the 23/24 season - their support is appreciated by everyone in the Academy.

“As proud as we are of our Under-18s, we have so much talent coming through at all age group levels – players and coaches – and it will be great for our sponsors to see this first hand.”

Play on the Pitch Day is not an event for the general public, but family and friends of players will be in attendance to support their players.
