Argyle will kick off their 2024/25 season with a trip to Hillsborough, live on Sky Sports.
The Pilgrims will meet Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, 11 August, as Argyle get set to begin their second consecutive season in the Sky Bet Championship. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football, at 4pm.
The season’s first home league game, the following weekend, will see Argyle at home to Hull City, the side that visited Home Park on the concluding day of last season, when Joe Edwards’ goal sealed the Greens’ survival in the second tier.
There follows an away trip to Queens Park Rangers, then a home game against Steven Schumacher’s Stoke City, before the first international window of the season, on the weekend of 7/8 September.
The season will conclude on the weekend of 2-4 May, with the Greens’ final opponents of the campaign set to be Leeds United, at Home Park.
The festive period sees Argyle at home to Middlesbrough in the final game before Christmas, before a trip to Coventry City on Boxing Day, then a visit to promoted Oxford United three days later. On New Year’s Day, Bristol City are the visitors to Home Park.
Two teams relegated from the Premier League are opponents for Argyle early in the campaign. Luton Town are set to visit us on 28 September, with a midweek visit to Burnley following immediately afterwards.
The third side relegated from the top flight last season were Sheffield United, and Argyle’s first encounter with them will take place on 14 December.
There is an eye-catching run of fixtures in early October, with Argyle beginning the month at Leeds United, followed by a midweek home game against Portsmouth, then a trip to Wayne Rooney’s former club Derby County. Portsmouth and Derby form another pair of opponents, in the same week, in mid-March.
The Easter weekend has thrown up a trip to Middlesbrough on Good Friday, 18 April, followed by a home game against Coventry City three days later.
Argyle’s opening game in the Carabao Cup, which will take place in the midweek after the opening game at Sheffield Wednesday, will be determined when the draw is made at 11.30am on Thursday, 27 June.
There will be no game on the weekends of 7 September, 12 October, 16 November and 22 March, because of international windows.
The 2024/25 season is the first under a new deal between the EFL and Sky Sports, which will see more than 1,000 games broadcast live on Sky’s channels each season.
Therefore, it is expected that many of our fixtures will be amended to different days and kick-off times.
We have been notified that notice will be given within the next seven days of any alterations to games to be played before the end of September. By 16 July, we should be told of any changes to all fixtures taking place prior to the weekend of the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, which falls on 10-12 January.
By 1 November, TV selections will have been made for games taking place between mid-January and the first weekend of March. Selections for matches scheduled after the first weekend in March will be made on a four-week rolling basis starting from 1 February.
