Summer Events at Home Park Stadium

The Pilgrims’ 20/21 campaign may have drawn to a close, but an exciting summer lies ahead for Home Park Stadium.

The club’s hospitality and conferencing team, led by Christian Kent, have been hard at work preparing for events at Home Park in line with the government road map, and our schedule kicks off in style with our outdoor cinema and Euro 2020 live screenings next month, in partnership with Hideaway Cinema.

Christian said: “We’re really looking forward to the outdoor screenings at Home Park. The stadium will provide a really unique and exciting environment for these events, and it will be really uplifting just to see people back in the stadium.”

Christian admits that it has been a frustrating time to be involved in events, but he is heartened by the interest in Home Park as a venue, even during the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “It’s well documented that the Mayflower Grandstand development was designed to help us achieve our ambition of becoming a sustainable Championship club. To have spent almost all of the Grandstand’s life unable to host events has been tough.

“Fortunately, we have been able to put the space to good use, first with the NHS and then as a vaccination centre. In that sense, the Grandstand has played a significant part in the local community, but we are certainly keen to start rolling out more events for people to enjoy within our stadium.”

The cinema and EURO 2020 screenings kick off a June and July schedule of outdoor activity at Home Park Stadium, while the NHS continues to vaccinate people within the Mayflower Grandstand. In the following months, non-matchday indoor events will begin to take place, and they are already proving popular.

Christian said: “We’ve booked ‘An Evening With Frank Bruno’ at the end of October, and we were blown away by the interest, to be honest. The event has sold really well, and underlines that there is clearly a demand in the local community to get back to entertaining indoor events."

With matchday hospitality bookings now open, and booking up rapidly, ahead of the Pilgrims’ 21/22 Sky Bet League One campaign, the club is now open to taking external bookings at Home Park Stadium.

“We have been preparing the Stadium and events calendar in tandem with NHS use to ensure that we are ready as soon as the government road map permits indoor bookings,” said Christian. “We’re in a great place in that respect, and the current restrictions do not seem to have dampened interest in booking Home Park for external events.”
