Youngsters Finding the Net
THE 2020 goalscoring form of youngsters Luke Jephcott and Ryan Hardie has been a welcome highlight in Argyle’s rise to fourth in the Sky Bet League Two table.
After returning from a loan spell at Truro, Luke scored successive braces in the wins at Scunthorpe and Carlisle, while Ryan has notched in each of his substitute appearances for the Pilgrims since joining on loan from Blackpool.
The goals are reward for hard work and getting in the right positions, but manager Ryan Lowe is very aware of the need to keep his young stars composed ahead of the next challenge at Stevenage this weekend.
“We’ve got to keep them level-headed, especially young Luke, help keep his feet on the ground because he was a little tired on Saturday [against Mansfield],” said Ryan.
“He’s been ever so good for us, working his socks off, creating chances and scoring goals. As I said before, we need to make sure we look after him because he’s a youngster. He’s didn’t get many chances on Saturday but we know he’ll get in those positions, and Ryan’s the same.
“Whoever plays up there, we know we will create chances and it’s up to them to put the ball in the back of the net.”
