Tunnel Vision
STRIKER Dom Telford is delighted to have signed a contract at Argyle under boss Ryan Lowe and believes he has what it takes to bag a place in the starting line-up every week.
At Bury last season, Telford made 48 appearances across the league and cup, scoring a total of 14 goals. It is that joy of hitting the back of the net and helping the team win that motivates Dom on a match-day.
“I’m quite tidy on the ball, I’d like to say, and I’ve got tunnel vision really,” he said. “I like to score goals, linking up play or running behind if I get told to.
“I got few goals last year but I’m coming here to make sure I can cement my place in the team, score goals in the league and contribute the best way I can, so I am ready to get going.
“Hopefully, I can get people off their seat and excite the fans.”
Dom’s youth experiences set him off on a good foot to reach his potential and he is looking to improve even further in his senior professional career.
“I was at Blackpool for eight years since I was a youngster,” he said. “I was brought through and played a few games and it was all good experience for me, but I’m ready to kick-on now.”
The 22-year old already has good impressions of Home Park after getting his first glimpse of the building work for the new Mayflower Grandstand and he has also heard stories of the Green Army’s level of support at both home and away games.
“Even just walking into the club and looking around it is unbelievable,” he said. “It’s got a really homely feel to the club, the fanbase is massive and I’m just buzzing to be here.
“I’ve already been thinking of scoring and celebrating down in [the Devonport End]. It’s going to be special when it’s done, so hopefully, when we string a few wins together, we will get the fans bouncing.
“For me personally, and for the club, I’m ready to get them back where they belong. I’m delighted to be here.”
