Youth Loss at Bournemouth
ARGYLE'S hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup were swept away as a very strong Bournemouth outfit scored five goals in each half to cruise into the last four.
The Cherries, who currently sit on top of the Youth Alliance League, fielded a side of mainly second-year apprentices, including Christian Saydee who has forced his way into the Cherries’ first-team set-up.
The opposite applied for the young Pilgrims who had to field a relatively young side, including four under-15s in the starting line-up, due to a number of injuries and suspensions.
The Cherries started strongly and were two goals up inside the first 15 minutes. Argyle pulled a goal back through Ryan Downing, who is currently starring in the Pilgrims’ under-15 Premier League Cup squad, but back came their hosts to hit three more goals before the break.
Bournemouth did not ease off in the second half as they continued to be ruthless in front of goal, ending the game as 10-1 winners.
Argyle: Harry Townsend, Angel Wariuh, Jack Endacott (Adam Poole 60), Jeffrey Forkuo, Isaac Burdon, Ollie Tomlinson, Ryan Downing (Oscar Massey 60), Charlie Miller, Jarvis Cleal, Rubin Wilson, Will Jenkins-Davies. Substitute not used: Tyler Coombes.
