Green Army Guide
THE Jonny-Rocks Stadium is the home of Cheltenham Town but it was known as Whaddon Road ground until 2018. It was renamed as a part of a three-year corporate sponsorship deal with Gloucestershire chauffeur & executive car service.
The 314-mile round trip takes approximately two-and-a-half hours each way by car and two hours 45 minutes by train.
Cheltenham’s ground has a layout of the Hazlewood Stand, which has a capacity of 1,100, the Colin Farmer Stand, named after a former vice-chairman of the club, can hold 2,034 fans. There is also an Autovillage Main Stand, which has seating towards the back of the stand and terracing towards the front. The final stand is the Prestbury Road Stand, which is a small covered terrace.
Away fans are allocated the Hazlewoods Stand to sit in which will accommodate just over 1,100, with the full capacity of the ground totaling to 7,066. Please note the Boxing Day game is all-ticket to the Green Army.
The Robin is the mascot for Cheltenham Town, clearly in association with the club’s nickname - The Robins. The club colours are red and white and their local rivalry is Swindon Town.
Nearby facilities include the club bar called the Robin’s Nest, which will allow entry to away supporters for a £1 admittance fee. Alternatively, there are a couples of pubs 10 minutes away from the ground on the outskirts of the town centre, called ‘Sudeley Arms’ and ‘The Conservatory’. Other than that, there is a social club nearby where you’re also able to park your car.
Inside the ground, however, there is food available, including burgers, hot dogs, homemade pies, bacon rolls and Cornish pasties.
There is parking available at the ground, but it costs £5 and there are a limited number of spaces available. In order to pre-book one, you have to contact the club. Otherwise, you can park in the streets running off the ground. The Club also operates a Park & Ride scheme from the premises of Renishaw PLC, which are located on the main A46 Stroud Road. There are 200 spaces for cars and cost £3 per vehicle. Buses up to the ground commence up to three hours before kick-off and return after the match has ended.
