Prediction Lottery
MIDFIELDER Joe Edwards is not surprised that bookmakers have tipped Argyle to be promoted straight back to Sky Bet League One this season but the reality will take a lot of hard work.
The former Walsall man who was Ryan Lowe’s first summer signing knows a long, hard season awaits, with 46 hurdles to be overcome, starting with Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
“It’s nice to be talked about and that’s probably due to the size of the club and where we’re at,” said Joe. “Stats don’t always turn out to be true though.”
The task at hand remains the same as it always was, worry about what we do and keep winning games because nobody can predict the twists and turns in the next 10 months.
Joe recounted a time where pre-season predictions turned out to be the polar opposite of the final outcome, hence why he takes little notice of these types of stats.
He said: “I have been [in a team] favourites to be relegated but we got promoted, so it just shows you [things like that don’t always work out]. What we do know is that we have a manager who is driven and relentless in how he works. For me, that can only be a good thing to push us in the right direction.“
