Chairman in Town

CHAIRMAN Simon Hallett will make his first visit to Plymouth on December 1 since replacing James Brent at the Home Park helm on October 31 .

Under Simon’s chairmanship, Argyle manager Derek Adams expects that there will be no change in how the club will be run. Simon is based in the United States but will frequently attend board meetings in this country

“It will be [run the same way] because we are not going to be a club that’s able to spend money on large transfer fees that’s for sure,” said Derek.

“We have got a stadium to build, that has cost more money than everybody envisaged. The money has got to come from somewhere and we have got to work within the constraints that we do. For the foreseeable future, we will work how we have been working for the last seven years out of administration.”

The manager was naturally unwilling to divulge any financial information regarding the fast-approaching January transfer window but, regardless of potential funds coming his way, he and Simon are in frequent contact and have a strong relationship.

“I’m not going to comment on that [budgets for January],” said Derek. “It’s something for other people to speak about, the Chairman has done that.

“I haven’t had the chance to have a sit-down with the new chairman because I have not been over to America. I have had a number of chats with him in that time because he needs to be part of the football club across here. [Chief executive] Michael Dunford and myself speak to him to keep him up to date with what’s happening here.

“We know each other well, we have been part of each other’s company a good number of times since he became a director of the football club. “

In conjunction with the upcoming visit of our chairman, we will holding a Fans' Forum in the Green Taverners Suite on December 6. Simon and fellow director Michael Dunford will address topics raised by the Green Army, and Head of Stadium Redevelopment (Operations) Jon Back will be there to answer questions specifically regarding the development of Home Park.

Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start and the bar will be open. For those who are unable to attend but would like their question to be answered by the Board, please email your question to argyle@pafc.co.uk and type “Forum” into the subject box.
