FRD - The Games
WE will kick off our 2018-19 Sky Bet League One campaign with an away match against Walsall on Saturday, August 4.
Our season will come to an end, 45 games and 12,098 miles later, on Saturday, May 4 when we face last season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists Scunthorpe United at Home Park.
Our first home game of the campaign, on Saturday, August 11, is against Southend United, after which we visit promoted Coventry City seven days later.
The longest journey of the season, the 806-mile round-trip to newly-relegated Sunderland, takes place on Saturday, March 2 with the return having been played at Home Park on Saturday, November 3.
In contrast, our two shortest trips take place early in the season on consecutive weekends, at Naval rivals Portsmouth on Saturday, September 1, and Bristol Rovers, on Saturday, September 8.
The Home Park return against Pompey is on Saturday, February 9, with Rovers coming to town on Saturday, March 23.
We will play five midweek games, home and away, beginning with Wycombe Wanderers at home on August 21. Derek Adams’ side will also play evening games at Theatre of Greens against Shrewsbury Town, on March 12, and Gillingham, on October 23.
Away from home, Argyle also play Shrewsbury under lights, on November 27, having already visited Barnsley, on October 2.
The Christmas schedule sees consecutive away games at AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day, Wednesday December 26, and Burton Albion, on Saturday, December 29.
Oxford United visit Home Park on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, with the return against Walsall the first home league game of 2019, on Saturday, January 5.
Easter sees us travelling to Gillingham for our penultimate away match of the campaign on Good Friday, April 19, with Barnsley visiting for our second-last home fixture on Easter Monday, April 22.
Our final away game is the third-longest trip of the season, at last season’s League Two champions Accrington Stanley, on Saturday, April 27.
